The three best meals out I've had this year were at Ramsay at the London, Per Se (having just been there last night) and Gary Danko's.
We had a lovely meal at The French Laundry, but found small things to nitpick about.
I'm reserving judgement on Eleven Madison Park because I'm hoping the pervasive saltiness issue I experienced was just a one-off bad night. Need to back and see.

Canteen. So bad ass. Dennis Leary is something of a cook legend/God after he made this spot work.
per se was not #1?!? wow, you must have really eaten well this year. my best meal was probably an insane tasting menu at Megu, but i also went to an appetizer/cocktail party at the Bouley Test Kitchen and met David Bouley himself! so that was probably tops for overall experience. :-)
